This short lesson focused on course materials, including coursebooks, authentic material, and created material. Authentic materials are primary sources such as news articles, menus, literature, etc. While not designed for students, they are generally more interesting and motivating due to their veracity. Created materials can cater to the students and lesson. Samples from Bogglesworldesl.com are provided, which I personally vouch for as I have used the site frequently for my younger (and lower level) students. The controversy surrounding whether or not to use coursebooks is also discussed. Coursebooks have great advantages, as they are a tested syllabus and content. Their generality has its problems, as they can be inflexible. Coursebooks should be considered tools, not bibles, and a good teacher shouldn't be afraid to pick and choose what works best.
