I find reported speech easy as the changes even though numerous have a very clear and logical rule. It is like solving mathematical problem. It has been difficult for me to make lessons about reported speech though. Students seem to get overwhelmed by all the necessary changes. Furthermore, when I try to explain that depending on the context some of the changes might not be necessary to convey the message truthfully, it makes it even more confusing. I hope now with the suggested teaching ideas I can have classes that are more successful on that topic.
Conditionals on the other hand, especially the level of certainty they convey, have always been a pain. The brief and structured review here was very helpful.
