Course books both has advantages and disadvantages when it comes providing the suitable lesson to the students. Primarily, not all the contents of course books are in line with what the class needs. In this unit, I have learned that the teacher must know when to create his/her own materials to supplement the course or replace the sections not suitable for the class. It always best to identify which lesson materials are applicable to the language level of the students.
Authenticated Materials such as newspapers, brochures, films etc. can be used because they are real and more motivating to students which will eventually increase their confidence when they understand. On the other hand
Created Materials are usually designed by the teacher to replace the course book. It is usually fun and more creative in context.
Teachers must be able to use the course book to the maximum effect to students. It is always best to deep dive into the course book to be able to know what sections need supporting materials and what should be replaced.
