I've previously looked at the importance of integrated skills in the classroom, and also examined receptive skill in more detail. In this unit I took a look at the productive skills: speaking and writing. While speaking and writing are substantially different in many ways, the both are used for the same purpose to communicate Also the given unit explains the difference between accuracy and fluency activities. Accuracy activities will check that the students can understand and use the language in a controlled way before being expected to try to use it creatively in a fluency activity. Speaking activities in the classroom : controlled activities (accuracy based), guided activities (accuracy based), creative communication (fluency based). Writing has quite a number of differences which separates it from speaking. There are differences in grammar, vocabulary, spelling, handwriting, layout and punctuation. A game is an activity with rules, a goal and an element of fun. There are two types of games: competitive games in which players or teams race to be the first to reach the goal, and co-operative games, in which players or teams work together towards a common goal.
