English has many parts of speech that the students will need to learn in order to master it. As a teacher, having a more thorough understanding of those parts of speech will help me to teach them more effectively.
While there are a lot of rules for English, there are also many exceptions to the rules that students will unfortunately just have to memorize. For example, many nouns have irregular plural forms, and some verbs have irregular past tenses.
