Unit 11: Teaching Receptive Skills was helpful in that it gave insights into teaching reading and listening skills as well as included the reasons why we would teach those skills. Receptive skills are just as important as productive skills like speaking and writing. These receptive skills go hand in hand, reading is often a precursor to writing and listening to speaking. I appreciated the patchwork ESA lesson that was given in Unit 11, however I feel that the example was for fairly high level students in a conversation class type setting and would have appreciated seeing a lesson on receptive skills for lower level students as well.
