In this unit on Coursebooks and Lesson Materials, I learned the difference between using authentic materials and created materials in the classroom. Each has their own advantages and disadvantages in a lesson setting, authentic being catered to help provide interest and confidence in students learning whereas created materials can be catered to and graded down to the grade level of the students. I also learned that in regards to using a textbook in class that it is important to supplement and adjust as needed. The four different options I learned with course book usage are: Omit, Replace, Supplement, and Adapt. With these different options, the teacher can adjust as needed depending on the class and the students.
