Unit two – Parts of Speech
This unit is a general overview of the parts of speech. I personally found it to be a good review of many rules. Most of which I have not studied since my freshman year in high school. I completely agree with the statement in the opening paragraph.
“As native speakers of the English
language this is something that we probably were not taught at school and despite using grammar perfectly in our natural, everyday speech, we often are unaware of what we are actually using or why we are using it”.
One example I can give is the section explaining Comparisons. I did not realize that the rules where based on how many syllables a word contains. I just knew that we do not say beautifuller or beautifulliest. We say more beautiful or the most beautiful. I am looking forward to the future units covering grammar.
