This unit gives an overview of which methods work best for different styles of lessons. As an ESL teacher, you will teach some lessons more heavily based in vocabulary, others which are focusing on new grammar structures and still others which are focusing on particular language functions such as inviting or refusing.
In general, straight arrow type approaches tend to be used to introduce vocabulary or grammar, while a boomerang or patchwork approach is frequently used to tackle language functions.
