In this unit we studied the two productive skills, writing and speaking. We learned about different speaking and writing activities to encourage students to use what they know and explore what they don't. Having visited a school in the middle east where they used a little different alphabet than we do, I understand how hard it could be for someone to learn how to write English. Plus, nothing is really phonetic so that would make it worse! But they sure loved the speaking part of things. It is fascinating how vital writing can be for an ESL student. It will really teach them things that they wouldn't learn through speaking only.
