This unit is about vocabulary, grammar and function. The content of this unit helps to construct English lesson as for the goal of teaching.
First of all let`s talk about teaching vocabulary. As a rule the fist steps in mastering of new language are made in vocabulary. Young learners always start with vocabulary. I think the most challenging for the teacher is the selection of the vocabulary for the lesson. From my point of view the most important are appropriacy and meaning. If the teacher can cover these important things so there will be no difficulties for the students to learn new vocabulary. A lot of methors an be used to achive this goal. As a rule typical vocabulary lesson designed as ESA “straight arrow” lesson. The next step is the mastering of grammatical structures. We have words now let`s combine it. I think the best way to teach grammtical structures is the usage of different discussions, promting and etc. Of course this should be used in the Engage stage of the lesson. Sdudy stage demands a lot of drilling. The best type of ESA lesson is a patchwork grammar lesson. It allows to combine and transfere different types of lesson thus to achive best results. The next part is devoted to language functions. I think this is one of the most important things to achive good results in english. This is like a “feeling of a language”. Students can share their opinions and thoughts. This is the best way to stress and focuse on activation of the language. The typical ESA structures for this lesson are boomerang or patchwork . The suitable activities for this lesson are role plays, debate and work in pairs. I like this unit . Thank you ITTT!
