As for Unit 3 this unit is great from the point of view of discription of different methods and techniques. I can say that I like to use Communicative languge method for young
learners and Grammar translation method for older students. Never the less you can combine different methods in your lesson. Communicative method brings more fun and activites for young lerners. Alongside this method can be used for older students to bring life and allow children to apply their knowledge during the lesson. I like to combine and use different methods.
As a rule I work with young learners they start only
with
their L1 mother language. So it means that teacher need to use communicative method. As for the techniques for this approach durind ESA lesson especilly during Engage stage teacher uses flashcards, drawings, dancing , singing, mime and etc. At the study stage I would suggest to use different role play games, reinforcent worksheets , colorings or play dough mats. When you need to activate
and see what student know to get a feedback and activate their knowledge you can use independent role play games
for your students. You can elicit from your students what they have leaned during the lesson by using different games “What`s missing game!”, “”Spell your name game!” , “Fill in the gap game” , story building and etc.
I totally agree that correction and praising are vital for learning. Correction should not be done immediately. And prasing can be done emmediatelly especilly for young learners as they have the lack of self-motivation. Additional prasing will motivate them.
It helps them to focuse and even self correct during correction stage.
