The unit discussed the five main conditional speech used for teaching non-native speakers, the methods by which each are distinguished and their individual rules. It was also highlighted that there it is possible to confuse more than one of these conditionals and should be taught carefully. The second part focused on reported speech, and the ways in which the sentence structure changes around subject, tense, and time of reporting relative to the original direct speech. Because of the many case-by-case changes for time expressions, these should be taught slowly to students.
