Unit 13 was very informative. It introduced the meaning and types of intonation and stress. There are 3 types of intonation common in the English language and this unit provided the techniques to teach them as well as the stress that can be within a single word, an utterance or a sentence. The stress plays an important role in the meaning of the sentence. Pronunciation is a major part of unit 13. It’s important for students to know the phonemic alphabet to be able to sound out the words that are new for them. This alphabet is used in the dictionaries and it’s universal for all the English accents. But this alphabet is not the only thing we need to know about pronunciation. It’s important to know the way our organs work while making the sounds, so the unit gives information about different types of articulation. I really liked the task of translating the phonetic script, I think it might be a challenging task for the students as well as they can practice and memorize the phonemic alphabet.
