Unit 20 gives advice about teaching different groups and different levels. No matter what group the teacher if facing, the most important thing is to establish rapport with the students and amonth the students of the group is new, that’s why it’s common not to use the course books the first lesson and do some activities to get to know each other instead. If the class consists of the students with different levels of English, it’s important to make sure the stronger students don’t get bored and the weaker ones don’t fall behind, so the pace needs to be determined based on the majority of the students. The teacher needs to encourage students to use only English at the lessons and cut down the use of the native language unless it’s used to clerics the task. That way the students will be exposed to more English and will try their best to use it when they have a question or concern. There are lots of problems the teacher can face during the lessons like lack of participation, difficulties with listening texts etc. and this course provided information about them. I found this course very useful, I got to learn a lot of new things as well as revise the topics that I knew before in an organized way. Thank you very much for this course.
