This unit introduces and explains what 'conditionals' mean, when and how they are they used. It presents the five main conditionals; Zero, First, Second, Third, and Mixed conditionals. The unit provides the form and usage for each conditional and also gives examples, the typical mistakes/errors student might make and also provides a number of teaching ideas.
The unit then moves on to 'reported and direct speech'. It explains the difference between reported and directed speech using an example telephone script. In this section, the unit provides a table showing how the tenses change when 'direct speech' is 'reported', then follows it up with a subsection on how pronouns change, alongside another subsection about the changes to be alert to in time expression and backshifting. The unit concludes with the potential mistakes/errors of students and teaching ideas
