Unit 13 is about pronunciation and phonology; the unit discusses intonation, stress, sound joining, linked speech; the unit also discusses the phonemic alphabet, phonemic symbols, and articulation. The unit includes teaching techniques for the pronunciation of individual sounds; the unit also discusses when to teach pronunciation. I learnt that though the phonemic alphabet is universal, the pronunciation of words will vary according to accents. I learnt a useful hint; I can draw arrows on the board to indicate rise/fall of intonation in words and sentences. I learnt that stressed syllables hold the essential information.
