Unit 12 explains the difference between fluency and accuracy and how activities that encourage accuracy are focused on producing correct language. Activities associated with accuracy are under more controlled conditions than fluency. Activities and objectives to facilitate fluency are less controlled and encourage creative language. Both fluency and accuracy are equally important and a good instructor will balance the activities so that both skills are developed. Games are a fun and way to encourage student participation and self-confidence but should be developed to stay culturally appropriate but also engaging so that it maintains student interest.
