Before reading this unit, I never thought about how much I use modal auxiliary verbs on a daily basis. The chart on pages 2-3 made me realize just how many there are and the difference in meaning each can portray. Something like this could be very helpful to students but could be overwhelming if given to them all at one time. The teaching ideas, such as roleplay and signs, seemed particularly helpful. Before playing one of these in the classroom, one could introduce a few modal auxiliary verbs they would like to focus on for that lesson instead of overwhelming the students.
