In my opinion when i learn this unit 15.Evaluation, assessment, and testing are tools that enable language educators to better understand and modify their language programs. Each is a systematic process of investigation that should provide useful feedback on program functioning and support stakeholder decision?making. Evaluation, assessment, and testing, then, need to be concretely useful endeavors organized in a way that maximizes the likelihood of achieving educators' and other stakeholders' desired aims. Accordingly, the productiveness and ultimate usefulness of these enterprises will depend on (a) identifying the specific individuals. who will do something with evaluation and assessment activities or findings, (b) specifying what the evaluation and assessment uses of these individuals will be, and (c) being clear about the specific program elements that evaluation will investigate or about the specific language abilities that assessment or testing will assess.
for example Teachers need to evaluate their students’ English to determine whether the students are making any progress in their learning. A teacher also needs to evaluate students at the beginning of a course to be able to identify their needs or problem areas. An evaluation is also useful for correct placement. Conducting periodic evaluations and keeping records is also very useful because teachers can easily refer to these in case there would be a problem in the future. Evaluating students’ English will also let the teacher know if the aims of the lessons are being met or if changes are needed.
