In this Unit, I learned more about the Modal Auxiliary Verbs. Such as? may, must, can, could, should, have to, need to and so on.
“Could, may and would” are usually used to express request. Sometimes “could” and “would” are used to express a polite request. “Should, must and have to” are usually used to express obligations. Sometimes “must” is used to express the greatest degree of certainty. If students want to use each item correctly, it would be better for them to know the differences between each one.
Except for the Modal Auxiliary Verbs, Passive Voice is one of the most important and difficult grammar points. Because for Chinese people, there’s no specific sentence structure to express the passive form. But in English, they have a specific structure. So we need to learn these rules and follow them.
As English teachers, we can use some teaching aids or some activities to help our students get familiar with these rules and use them correctly.
