This section focuses on teaching English pronunciation. I agree that this is a difficult aspect of teaching English because native speakers do not refer to rules of pronunciation, so they seem nuanced and unnecessary. However, I used the IPA when learning French and Spanish, so I also agree that it is necessary to language acquisition despite being cumbersome. I think that the example of using a dictionary with phonetic spelling to help students figure out how to pronounce new words is a helpful way of teaching pronunciation as a resource they could use outside the classroom.
