Unit 12 enumerated the techniques of teaching the productive skills, which are speaking and writing. Speaking is usually more focused upon than writing, even though it is an equally important skill. The most impactful portion of this lesson was the emphasis on free/creative writing. It would be easy to get caught up in the Study phase of the lessons, drilling to improve correct pronunciation, but the Activate phase is almost more important as it allows students to get comfortable speaking and communicate more freely in English.
