Both authentic and non-authentic materials can be of value in the classroom. Authentic materials have been produced for purposes other than the classroom, whereas non-authentic ones are produced for the sole purpose of being a teaching aid. Each have their advantages and disadvantages, but overall, non-authentic materials should be created with the goal of making them as authentic as possible. As a general rule, lesson plans should be created such that were the teacher ill, a substitute would be able to pick up a copy of it and be able to teach the lesson. Book resources for Business English are becoming more available, however the Internet may be a great resource for both worksheets and authentic materials, as well. Be sure to research copyright laws in your country before using them, though.
