The unit explains a varied category of learners any English teacher will probably meet during their time as an ESL teacher. The most important thing which can be learned from the lesson is
- Young leaners are often curious and absorb the language very fast. However, they have short concentration time and easily get bored. Their lessons therefore must be accompanied by interesting activities to motivate them.
- Beginners could be younger or older.
- Older beginners or older students at any level of learning often have self-motivation. They may however have difficulties grabbing the material as quick as would do the younger ones. Sometimes, the older ones have a specific area they want to learn and may feel that other sections of the lesson are useless.
