Finally, I found my answer to the common problem situation I am encountering every time I handle my first lesson with a new group of students. Commonly, greeting the student, self-introduction and giving backgrounds about the course is the first thing I do to start a class. But, where to begin to get the attention of my students and built up a rapport is always my problem. But because of the ideas presented in this unit like using a games example “pass the ball game” is I think a good idea I could use to make the student comfortable with me next time and get their attention. And for individual and business English students, using the needs negotiation technique could be a good way to gather information from the student so that I could make a precise lesson for their needs. For other problems like the size of classes, I agree that handling a more extensive class is a big challenge, but in my case, I had a hard time managing a smaller group because of the limited activities I could do with the student mainly for the individual lesson. Therefore, to maintain them to be motivated at all time and interactive is quite difficult for me. But again the new ideas and techniques I’ve learned here erase my worries on how to handle the large or small size classes and how to control the behavior of the students. Generally, because of the things I’ve learned from this unit, the questions I still have in mind has been answered. Now I am more confident to teach my students and determine that I could be a better teacher because of the new ideology in teaching I’ve learned and the new perspective I had developed in the entire course.
