Focus on modal auxillary verb,the passive voice and a brief overview of phrasal verbs and relative clauses.Modal auxillary verbs are use before other verbs to add meaning to the main verb.Examples of modals are can,could,may,might,have to,have got to,should,will etc and they can be used to express a number of different ideas(ability,possibility,advice,obligation,permission).Sometimes,modal auxillary verbs can be used to express differing degrees of formality.In english,we have two voices;the active and the passive voice.Our focus here is the passive voice.In the passive voice,the object an active verb becomes the subject of the passive voice.Only transitive verbs and not intransitive verbs are use inthe passive voice.Relative clausesalso known as adjective clause describes,identifies and gives further information about a noun.Relative clauses can either be defining or non-defining.Phrasal verbs consist of verb plus one or two particles.There are three types of phrasal verbs;intransive,transitive separable and transitive inseparable.
