In this unit I have learnt the importance of the receptive skills; reading and listening. I have learnt that these skills are equally important. I have learnt the reasons for reading and listening; for a purpose or for entertainment and I have learnt how we read and listen. We can use predictive skills, we can scan for specific information, we look for a general idea by skimming, we look for detailed information by reading/listening in a concentrated manner or we can use deduction to find out the meaning of individual words or phrases.
