This unit helped me to see the real value of the video presentations as the parts not covered in the video, clauses and phrasal verbs took more work to understand. Modal verbs can be used in a variety of ways and seem to add beauty, certainty or uncertainty, and at times formality to how something is said or written. Something can be said or written either in the active or passive voice to change the focus of the phrase. Clauses can be used to clarify ideas. Since phrasal verbs can be difficult to be readily understood, I appreciated the suggestion to try to use ones that have been taught in general conversation so they will become more familiar to a student.
