In this unit, we had a discussion about grammar, including conditionals, reported and direct speech. At first, mainly focused on forms and usages of five conditionals. For example, the form of zero conditional is "If/when+present tense, present tense", it refers to actions and facts that are irrefutable. Then, got to know the form of first conditional is "If+present tense, will/may/might/can/could/must+base form, " it talked about a "real "situation in the future that is possible, once the condition has been satisfied. Next, showed us the second conditional" If+past simple, would/could/might+ base form", it refers to a hypothetic situation that is presently not true. As for third conditional, the form is "If+past perfect, would/could/might+have past participle, refers to a hypothetic past action or result. Besides, also mentioned mixed conditional, "If+past perfect, would+base form". Through them, we can easily identify corresponding conditionals. Meanwhile, have mastered some teaching ideas, like split sentences, complete the conditional. what a question and so on. In the following part, clearly gave me examples of changing sentences from direct speech to reported speech. More importantly, showed me a table with the appropriate tense changes for reported speech. In addition to these, also introduced how to change time expressions to reported speech, such as" today-that day, yesterday-the day before, tomorrow-the next day. Eventually, have taught us a few teaching ideas to help students know how to use reported speech.
