This unit was very interesting and pointed out some of the positives and negatives of teaching multi vs mono lingual classes. There really are some good advantages to each of the groups. Being able to only have English as a common language and having many different cultures in which you could use as lesson perks are positive aspects of a multi-lingual class. Allowing a beginner level mono-lingual class to use some L1 to communicate during pair work is an advantage in a mono-lingual class setting.
I thought it was interesting to learn that 90% of English taught in a Business English setting would be normal English and that it is not necessary to have a perfect grasp of whatever field you are teaching to. Not knowing a ton about the specific field can also be an advantage in that it can give the students an opportunity to use English more naturally to explain different aspects of their field.
