This unit breakdown of the present tense serves as a reminder that the present tenses include the present simple, present continuous, present perfect, and present perfect continuous. The present simple involves the base form of the verb such as hike but requires s/es in the third person of the affirmative. The sample 'activate' ideas were very helpful in thinking about actually planning a lesson around this grammar material. I particularly liked the "guess my profession" activity for practicing the question form of the present tense in a fun manner. The present continuous involves 'to be' in the present simple and the verb with -ing ending. For example, I am hiking. The common student errors were also helpful in anticipating what to expect during lessons. For instance, leaving out the verb 'to be' or forgetting the -ing. The present perfect is slightly more complicated due to the several irregular forms of past participles. Typically, it utilizes has/have and the past participle of the verb. For this section, I found the usage section helpful. Although I use this tense, I previously found it difficult to explain when to use it in a concise way. Lastly, the present perfect continuous uses 'have/has been' and the verb with -ing ending.
