Unit 18 dealt with the grammar points of modal auxiliary verbs, passive voice, relative clauses, and phrasal verbs. Modal auxiliary verbs are used before other verbs to add meaning to the main verb. They are used to express various ideas such as obligation (must), possibility/probability (might), permission/prohibition (may), ability (can), and advice (should). Passive voice formulating a sentence so that the object of an active verb becomes the subject of the passive verb. In passive voice, the agent of the action is much less important than in active voice. Clauses are a group of words containing a subject and a verb. This unit focused on relative clauses, which is one that describes, identifies, or gives further information about a noun. Finally, the unit outlines the different types of phrasal verbs, which are multi-word verbs that consist of a verb and one or two particles.
