This unit discussed the various teaching tools and equipment that may be available in an ESL/EFL classroom. While working through this unit, I learned the ways different electronic tools, such as DVDs, cassettes, OHP, and video recorders, can be utilized in the classroom to teach English in a fun, engaging, and exciting way. In particular, I really appreciated learning about the way video recorders can be utilized in the classroom for self-correction, analysis, and discussion. Further, I think that using video recorders for projects is really beneficial as it encourages creativity from the students and holds their attention. For example, this unit brought up the idea of using a video recorder to record interviews of people on the street. I think this is a great way to capture natural English and encourage practicing English outside the classroom.
