This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I have learned a great deal in this course. I now have a more complete knowledge and understanding of english grammar and concepts such as the passive, reported english, and the various verb forms are more easily described and explained. The grammatical formulas provided will also undoubtedly be useful in the future. With this information, I am now better prepared to teach it as I now have a stronger grasp of the elements of the english language.
More importantly, I have learned how to organize a class. The ESA strategy is one that I plan on implementing on a regular basis as it is an excellent learning tool to keep a class engaged and make the most out of class time. The logic of engaging the students, presenting the material, and then having them activate it now seems obvious, but before this course it would not have occurred to me to do so. I now make sure to use this set up in an english class I teach as a volunteer.
The many course lesson plans, exercises, and activity planning I have done as a result of this course give me a greater understanding of how to create activities and organize classes that are effective learning tools. It also has provided a variety of different tools for me to use, whether they are suggestions for activate stages or possible exercises to be used in a study stage.
