Combined TESOL Cities

Over the past few months that I have been doing this course, I must admit that I have learnt quite a lot. In addition, a lot has been reinforced. The units which covered the teaching techniques taught me a tremendous amount. I have no formal teaching experience and these units have helped me to understand my role as a teacher and how to effectively manage a class. It has also taught me the important ESA technique and lesson planning. These were all new territories for me. I must say that the thought of teaching does not seem as daunting as it once seemed to me because with these units I was able to imagine myself in certain situations and how to deal with them as well. While the grammar units covered topics I was familiar with as a native english speaker, some went more in-depth than I learned them before. While some aspects came naturally to me as an english speaker, these units helped me to place them into perspective, to categorize them and to organize them in my thoughts. I have a lot of plans to put into action what I have learnt. In fact, I have already started as I use teaching techniques and games with my little sister to assist her with her school work. On a much wider scale, as an inexperienced teacher I can see where this information learnt will help me as I begin my career as a teacher of english as a foreign language. I am confident that what I have learnt will be beneficial to me especially as it relates to managing classes, teaching techniques and lesson planning.
