This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
It seems to me that the most important thing which I have gained during this course is the knowledge about the need of dividing one’s lesson in the stages; engage, study, activate. I have personally participated in many good and bad lessons, and now it is clear to me that the ones I found interesting were those which had all the three stages included. Surely just listening to a monotonous voice of the teacher without being engaged into an active cooperation was not only not attractive to me as a student, but even discouraging and making me think what am I doing in such a class. This course, by showing me the logic of planning a good lesson, solved this foreseen problem of mine as before the course I was really afraid of running my lessons in this kind of boring and discouraging way. I will make sure to divide my lessons in many stages; e.g. like in the patchwork pattern, thus making them very interesting and dynamic. The course also taught me the different attitudes I should have towards different students; of different nationalities, age, needs etc. as well as provided many interesting teaching ideas and exercises which I am sure to use in my future teaching career.
