This course has taught me a lot about teaching and the english language. I haven't had anything to do with the actual rules of the english language since I was in grade school, this is my first real encounter with grammatical lessons in years. I have learned a great deal that I never really had comprehended as a child. It has also come to my attention how inadequately we use the english language as native speakers! Teaching non-native speakers english, well they will be more knowledgeable about the language than most college level students. This course has made me aware of the inadequacies of our native english and the opportunities there are by teaching english. I have become more aware of many nuances of the language that I just let float by my mind as I say them. I have also learned a lot about the second aspect of this course, which is the classroom environment. This course has both given me confidence in handling all situations and scared me a bit as to what problems I may have to deal with. I am excited to put my studies into action in a classroom. I have always viewed education as one of the most vital pieces of the mechanics that make the world turn and subsequently have been looking for ways to enact this view. Taking this course (all of which I will be saving for reference) has made me excited not only to be teaching english, but simply just to be teaching. I cannot wait to practice daily what I think about nightly.
