This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This course has provided for me, a more specialized view of how to approach the teaching of ESOL. I think that above all the intonation unit was the most useful because in the past I treated it as process that I gave indirect importance. I allowed osmosis and repetition to be the students’ primary teacher as I understood that only through drilling and student mimicry would this important aspect of communication achieved. I also found it important to see and practice a different form of lesson planning with the ESA method. I have already used this method in my lessons here in saudi arabia, I am happy to say that on my last observation I got a perfect score using the ESA methodology. Finally, I learned the approach of the Needs Analysis Questionnaire which is a structured way of getting a gauge of what will be necessary and/or crucial in the developed of english for my freelance students.
