This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I have learned about teaching strategies, how to adapt these depending on the level, size and age of the class. I have learned how to plan and put together an effective lesson, and the importance of the different phases (Engage, Study, Activate) of a lesson. I have also realized the importance of games and a variety of activities during lessons, especially when teaching dry topics such as grammar, to capture the students’ interest and sustain their motivation. When I go to mexico to teach english, I will use the ESA format (and its variants) to plan my lessons. I also feel the course has prepared me well to teach different levels of learner, which will serve me well as my classes will be of varying levels of study.
