This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I decided to do this course because in the school where I work it's required to have a TESOL certificate to teach. At present I work as Corporate Course Coordinator but I have always liked teaching and since I like the institute for which I work I would like to keep also this option available. I have been studying english for years (13 at school - I graduated in foreingn languages - and other 8 years privately) so I am really passionate about it and I felt the need to review some points.
That's why I found very interesting the course you offered because it has both a general review of the main grammar points of the language plus the units related to the topic of teaching. This second type of units are really useful because they relate to topics that as a teacher you have often met, but as regards my personal experience, I had never had the chance to stop and think about it (i.e. classroom dinamics, differences in teaching groups or individuals, etc).
Another thing that I think is of vital importance is the part devoted to lesson planning; I will never do a lesson without a real lesson plan anymore! I understood that it's a turning point in my teaching career and it's the tool that makes the difference between good teaching and bad teaching. If I stop thinking about lessons I followed in the past years I can clearly find out the teachers that did plan the lessons and those who didn't. The ESA structure for the lesson works perfecly well since you can adapt it to the type of students and the type of lesson you want to deliver.
I really feel I have obtained a lot from this course and I'm really satisfied with it.
