I have personally gained a new understanding for the rules of english grammar. It is very structured and detail-oriented. After taking this course it has been evident how difficult it is to fully understand the language. However, I did gain a new sense of appreciation for english through this course. This course has helped me think on my feet, as I had to take ambiguous situations and try to make them
work as best as possible. I am sure that is indicative of any future school I will be working in. Not everything is set in stone, and a teacher needs to be on alert and ready to adapt and modify to any situation a classroom calls for.
I am glad I did this course, as I believe without having experienced it I likely would have gone into a classroom and have been stumped by the initial shock that it is actually real, I am in a foreign country about to teach students the english language. Taking this course has put me in mental situations where I had to visualize myself being in the classroom introducing myself to new students and straight away going to a lesson without seeming too robotic. I appreciate learning the ESA format, as I find its purpose to be helpful for the students and for the lesson to run smoothly.
I am taking what I have learned around the world to teach in any classroom that will have me. My first stop will be in South
korea, and eventually I would like to end up in
spain. I believe this course has been a great experience, and I am grateful to have completed it.
