This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Although I already knew most of grammar rules due to the multiple years as an english student, I have learnt a lot in this course.
First of all, I have learnt how to organize a lesson. I have been teaching music during 3 years but I never thought about control how much time spend in every exercise, possible problems during the class and how to fix them or warmers to engage the students. I have really found this information really helpful and I think that it is going to make me grow as a teacher.
Moreover, I have also learnt the importance of the 4 skills. I think that all of them are really important and now I know many exercises and techniques to put in action. But from my experience, I would especially focus in ‘speaking’: as an english student I have had many teachers and most of them have focused in grammar, listening or reading. When I started to speak in english abroad, I realized that I couldn’t speak at all. I knew a lot of grammar but I couldn’t say 3 words in a row. So I believe that the most important skill is the ‘speaking’ and I would like to make my future students speak a lot in my classes.
I would like to use what I have learnt teaching in china. Teaching, children and traveling are three of my passions and I would love to do it in china because it would be an exciting adventure and opportunity.
Overall I feel that the course was very well structured and covered all necessary areas which are necessary to enter in a classroom.
