This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this course I have had a nice basic grammar review- in nice simple categories. I didn't really know anything about phonetics- so it was good to have a some educating in that area, too. I've learned more about classroom dynamics- How the teacher should be and How the teacher can help the students achieve their goals. One of the main things I have learned is how to effectively outline a lesson plan- organizing the time in the classroom in a way that will be engaging, academically beneficial, and satisfying for everyone. How to balance organization and flexibility; entertainment and learning; teacher and student time can be challenging- a good lesson plan helps keep such balances.
I suppose to put into action what I've learned means to simply do what has been talked about in these lessons. I especially look forward teaching students english using the ESA format and its variants and incorporating the various activities suggested for each of these parts of the class period.
