I have really learned a lot during this course. First of all, I have learned more english grammar than ever before. Now it is likely that I had learned these things in High School or college and forgotten them over the 20+ years since but I don't remember ever learning some of the details. So the intro or refresher, whichever it was, was helpful and will be helpful to me in understanding and teaching more complicated grammar concepts, whether it be to my own homeschooled
children or to students of english in the future. While I have been teaching my own children for many years and have taught other classes of various topics in the past, this class was very helpful in giving me insight into the organization of a lesson plan. I graduated from college but not with a teaching degree so any teaching that I have done has been organized from my own common sense. While this has worked this course will be helpful in future teaching opportunities as I have learned more about planning and organizing lessons. I particularly appreciate the ESA approach and recognize the importance of beginning a lesson with an Engage phase and ending with an Activate phase and having a decent balance of all phases during the course of the lesson.
