Personally, this course was a great refresher for teaching practices in the classroom. As a second year english teacher, much of the information brought me back to the college mindset of teaching in the classroom. However, every unit in this course was helpful in some way, and I will take several things into my own classroom this next year. For example, I enjoy the Engage, Study, Activate approach to lessons, and try to structure my classes that way, but through this course I have realized the importance of the Engage stage, as well as the Boomerang style which incorporates a second Study stage into the lesson. This will help me further and formatively assess students before that critical final Activate stage. Also, the course has prepared me to face the challenges of teaching the importance and accuracy of tenses and reported speech. I find this to be a great compliment to this course.
