Initially when I decided to take this course it was to make myself more appealing to teaching
jobs, however I have gained much more. I was a victim of the ‘learn as you go’ method. I stumbled upon teaching through a love of writing and found myself the first few months’ way out of my league. There were many errors along the way and unfortunately a plethora of unsuccessful classes. However, after some time I became a better teacher and understood that speaking english is not enough when molding the minds of young people.
Despite, english being my native tongue, I felt that I should become more proficient and knowledgeable about the mechanics of the language. I believe after taking this course there has been a number of other tools I have gained along the way that I never would have expected. I now feel more confident and comfortable in my teaching. I also feel exceedingly more skilled in creating lesson plans. During this course I especially enjoyed the units that focused on the tenses. I found I was quite rusty, when it came to thinking of examples that demonstrated the tenses. I also found it increasingly helpful to study the formulas until memorized as I progressed through the course. I am certain that when I begin my next teaching job that this will help me whenever teaching the tenses.
I plan to use my
certificate for my upcoming teaching job in
korea. I know it will also be helpful during my
philippines summer vision trips when I teach at the typhoon relocation sites.
