I personally gained a lot from this course, which systematically sort out the knowledge for ESL teaching. I didn’t plan to become an english teacher in the first place, but since I practiced teaching in 2010, I have been totally into it. However, because I was not professionally trained, I went through quite a lot of difficulties in my classes, such as how to do a lesson plan, manage a big class, teach one-to-one classes for specific purposes. What I have benefited most is the lesson plan unit. It’s orchestrated under a structure of straight arrow ESA or Boomerang ESA. It gives us teachers a clear view of how to organize a lesson and prepare anything needed for the class. In the past, I used to just go through the teaching material, and bear in mind what should be involved in the lesson, thanks to my fantastic memory. But sometimes it does cause confusion to students when I forget what to do next, or easily run out of time because each section is not timed appropriately. So I will implement the method of planning lessons laid out in tefl course in my everyday teaching.
