This course has taught me various teaching skills and knowledge needed to apply for my first TESOL job. I gained a better understanding of the applied teaching theories as well as the many challenges facing learners and the role of the teachers.
The course has reminded me how important it is for a teacher to create an inclusive and dynamic classroom. Learning should be an enjoyable experience. It has given me the necessary tools to improve and enhance the quality of student learning by encouraging structured, peer led, and self-directed learning.
It has also provided me with useful assessment activities that will allow student learning to be effectively monitored and supported.
My ultimate plan is to use my certificate to secure a teaching role in Asia or South America where I can extend and challenge my own practice. I recognize the importance of good teaching and this course has maintained me aware of contemporary teaching methods through the readings.
